It’s no secret becoming a respected leader in your field requires consistent learning. However making steady progress on education amidst all the other crucial tasks is challenging. This is often because we take a casual approach with loose plans hoping that books will get read and courses taken. Even when we’re able to skim through some material, we only reap a small percentage of the benefits since there was no implementation plan.
To experience the most progress in the least amount of time we have to schedule our learning activities like any other important appointment or meeting. Set hard dates and times, decide the agenda and objectives before you start, and guard those time jealously.
In the beginning you may feel guilty for passing on other requests for your time. Look at it this way, by focusing on your education and development, you’re enabling yourself provide even greater service to those people.
